An AIDS awareness event will be Thursday at Bradley University.

The National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness/Anti-Stigma event will be from 6 to 9 p.m. at Bradley's Romeo B. Garrett Multicultural Center at 824 Duryea Place.

The Minority AIDS Awareness Council of Peoria and the Peoria City/County Health Department will sponsor the event, which will offer free HIV testing and information about area resources related to sexually transmitted infections of all types.

Stephanie Chaudoir, an assistant professor of psychology at Bradley, will discuss the stigma surrounding HIV and AIDS.
